1947 Gibson L-5N w/Factory McCarty Pickup
Weight: 6 lbs 12 oz
Neck Depth 1st fret: .91"
Neck Depth 9th fret: 1.01"
One of the classiest guitars to come out of the Gibson Kalamazoo factory, the L5 is thee quintessential archtop guitar, and this is a good one. This beautiful box is from 1947 and has had one single owner since 1956! It was meticulously cared for all these years and played in simple jazz settings around North East Ohio. The original natural finish is in wonderful condition, with light lacquer checking and subtle play wear throughout. The back adorns a beautiful Birds eye maple while the sides and neck have a well stated flame. Action is medium/low with room to go either way and the frets, which were low from the factory, are in great shape and play perfectly with no buzz anywhere on the neck. This L5 is currently setup with Medium Phospher Bronze strings. Electrify this guitar with the factory McCarty pickup which sounds wonderful and balanced across all strings. There is a cable with the original 1/2" screw-on connector added to a modern 1/4" guitar cable included. This currently resides in a mid 1950's brown Lifton case with a replaced handle (original handle in the case). This guitar would be a great addition to both collectors and players alike.
